When your thoughts become clouded with darkness, learn to let your inner peace shine through.
Your mind’s darkest thoughts can become so invasive when we allow it, that being able to find inner peace seems to be unimaginable.
As a population that came from a long history of learning how to adapt or die, we have always been faced with two options; let the darkness take over and become so consumed with the negativity that we become immobilized or find the strength to allow yourself to see even the smallest glimpse of light in what feels like the darkest room. It becomes so effortless to sit and sulk with your demons, that we forget how amazing peace truly feels. Learning to let go is one of life’s most treasured skills. It is important to realize that even when you feel as though you have this skill mastered, you are not a failure if you happen to find yourself spiraling downward back into the darkness. How you move forward, dictates the relationship between you and your inner peace.
As a perfectly imperfect person, there was a time when I had felt as though I had mastered being at peace with the traumas I have faced in life. It wasn’t until recently, when a prominent scar became ripped back open, that I found myself spiraling out of control and letting these horrible, intrusive thoughts shadow over the inner peace that I had worked so hard to gain control over. Learning how to navigate your thoughts in a manner that benefits you, is one of the most important things you as a person could do for your inner peace. Instead of allowing myself to sit in the darkness and sulk about extremely valid traumas, I found the light within my soul to swim back up to the surface, knowing it was what I deserved as well as anyone else who is faced with these thoughts.
It is important to realize that the sun will set and darkness will take over even on your sunniest days. No day, month or year will ever be picture perfect. However just as the sun sets and rises again, we too have the opportunity to find the light again and give ourselves the peace that we truly deserve.
How will you face your darkness today and allow the much deserved light to shine back through to bring you the inner peace that you deserve?
