Ferocious Resilience

You’ve picked at loose ends with a goal to remove…
Any efforts that I’ve made to move forward and improve.

You’ve taken the handles off the tools that I’ve created to climb…
You’ve even made it hard on certain days to listen to my heart’s beautiful chime.

You’ve spoken in place of a soul that takes second to none…
You have taken consecutive good days and made it seem like I never won.

What you haven’t done yet and never will while I’m here…
Is make my reason for getting back up ever disappear.

You won’t remove the sting from my story that breaks down your lies….
You will not remove the soldier etched into my soul who endlessly tries.

So, when the time comes, and you see my hopes consistent pursuit…
Know that my heart never lost its purpose as life sweetest fruit.

Know that I lost my way for some time, but never felt defeat…
I didn’t run from your demons, only my own shadows and internal retreat.

I am better these days, and it is thanks to the pain…
That drew every reason from my soul that was pushed through each vein.
