Discovering courage begins with facing your fears and telling them that you are now in control of the way things go.

We can only move forward when we become ready to stop drifting backward

There are crucial points or milestones in all of our lives where we are faced with decisions that do not come easy. We are sometimes forced to act on what will turn out best for us vs. what will remain easily miserable. When your previously comforted path walks in tandem with your problems then making a choice can be hard. It is almost as if you know what you need to do but are scared of taking a new route simply because it is unknown territory.

I remember beginning to find my way after so many years of sitting in a place that I will never claim to understand. I would turn around after a short time of progress and fall back into the arms of a darkness that lied about what it had to offer. I did this for what seems to be an endless amount of time until I was ready to finally put an end to the sorrow into which I fell. When I became ready to have my mind open up to the things that I never cared to understand is when my life started to progress in ways that I could control.

The journey is not perfect nor is it guaranteed to be permanent, but it is as real as you decide to make it and it will also create a real opportunity to escape the things that you no longer want to be a part of. The amount of courage that we obtain is a reflection of the strength that we have built over time which enables us to tell our demons that they no longer run the show.

What will you do today to find the courage needed to say no to the things that have held you back?
